I've always thought that battenburg cakes looked so amazing, but i have never dared try to make it because it looked so difficult. but this morning i really felt like baking and i came across this recipe, i was still a little scared of it at first.. but i decided to give it a go.
i thought it turned out pretty well, except there was A LOT of excess cake, but my brother soon took care of that.
It took quite a lot of the day but i think it was worth it and it was really fun to do, especially if you watch CSI at the same time (which might probably be the best show ever)
If you want to try and make this battenburg cake you can find the recipe Here

Coloured Sugar!
I was looking through the cupboard and found all these really cool food colouring's, so i decided to make COLOURED SUGAR!
All you need is:
Sugar (any kind)
Food colouring
A jar
A piece of fabric
Step one: put the sugar into a bowl, use as much sugar as you want but make sure that it fits in your jar first.
Step two: choose your food colouring (you can also use flavouring but you don't have to)
Step three: rub the food colouring in to the sugar using your fingers, then leave to dry on a sheet of kitchen roll for a few minutes.
Step four: put the coloured sugar into the jar that you chose.
Step five: get your fabric and place it on top of your jar, like a lid and secure it with a piece of string or ribbon.
Then put a label on it and you now have your coloured sugar! these are really cute as gifts or just to keep in the kitchen and you can make them all different colour's
I hope you try making your own coloured sugar.

Homemade pin cushion
yesterday i found all these scraps of fabric and decided that i was going to make something, i found this pattern for a pin cushion (i know pin cushions are a bit of a granny thing to make) but i decided to give it a try.
i chose a cath kidston cherry fabric to go on the back
and then i chose two blue fabrics to make a patchwork pattern on the top.
it was really easy to make (even though i did have a make a few mistakes) and it is actually really useful, because there is not as much chance of finding a pin in the most unfortunate way (by this i mean standing on it or even sitting on it...)
if you want to make a pin cushion as well then you can find the pattern Here

salted caramel cupcakes!
We had some family and friends over for dinner and i was put in charge of making the desert, i chose to make these cupcakes, which i thought was the easy option, but it ended up taking me most of the day.
But the hard work was all worth it because the turned out really yummy!Once you had made the cupcakes you had to make a hole in the middle and pour in some caramel for a surprise, my brother was very scared when he bit into his cake seeing as he hates caramel, but everyone else seemed to like theirs.
when the sugar started to boil for the caramel it looked so cool, this is when the sugar is just changing colour.
If you would like to make some cupcakes like these, then you can find the recipe Here

Triangle nails D.I.Y!
I found this nail tutorial on The dainty squid and have been wanting to try it for ages, i finally got round to it, and i took some pictures to show you how it went.
its super easy to do and turns out really well.
The first colour i chose was this pink, because its my favourite nail polish and nice bright.

the second colour i chose was black, because i looks nice in contrast to the pink and stands out.
try and choose colours that are different from each other otherwise it doesn't work as well. The directions are on the link above.
I hope you try out this tutorial and share it will your friends.
